With a tour of the country’s regional airports, the next four days mark the opening of international flights and tourism, the Deputy Minister of Civil Protection and Crisis Management, Nikos Hardalias.
Together with the general secretary Vassilis Papageorgiou, they will visit all 18 airports of the country, which, as announced, open from July 1 on international flights, in order to coordinate all the procedures for their safe start-up, in cooperation with the local authorities.
Mr. Hardalias will be at the airports of Zakynthos, Kefalonia, Corfu, Ioannina and Kalamata airport today, while the Secretary General of Civil Protection, Vassilis Papageorgiou, is expected to visit the airports of Araxos airport, Akti, etc. on Sunday and Monday.
In Araxos it is expected to have a meeting with all the involved bodies (CAA, Airport Management Bodies, Executives of the Armed Forces, ELAS and the Fire Brigade), for the best coordination of the implementation of the measures and protocols of safe operation of the airport and representatives of local authorities.
Araxos airport officially opens on Wednesday, July 1st, but, yesterday in the ranks of hoteliers of Achaia, there was information that the opening of international flights may be postponed until the 15th of the month.
However, the first five flights are scheduled for Tuesday, July 7, while 68 flights are scheduled for the whole month, although it is very likely that changes will be made.
TUI flights from Germany dominate, while arrivals are also scheduled from Belavia, Jetair Fly, Travel Service, Ellinair, Air Baltic, Enterair and Getjet Airlines.
It is worth noting that the sampling of incoming tourists for Covid 19, will be done by health units with officers of the Armed Forces, under the supervision of the Ministry of Civil Protection, with the assistance of the Fire Brigade and ELAS.
At Araxos airport, these inspections will be carried out by a sanitary unit from 116 AM, while the installation of protective plexiglass panels is expected, in the passport control and the service of the passengers.
