Turkish Airlines: cancels all flights to Kazakhstan until 9 January
Due to “negative developments” in the former Soviet republic, following days of violence in the country.
Turkish national carrier Turkish Airlines announced today that it is cancelling all flights to Kazakhstan until 9 January due to “negative developments” in the former Soviet republic, following days of violence in the country.
Security forces appeared to have regained control of the streets of Kazakhstan’s main city today, while the country’s Russian-backed president said he had ordered his troops to fire in cold blood to quell the uprising across the country.
In its statement, Turkish Airlines said staff on its Almaty flight will return to Istanbul airport tomorrow, Saturday, while other measures to remove staff in the capital Nursultan are being assessed.
