Tijuana Airport announces new international route
So far in 2024, from January to May, nearly 5 million total passengers have been registered at this airport.
TIJUANA – The Tijuana Airport (TIJ) announces an increase in its international routes with the opening of a new destination: Las Vegas, Nevada, starting on October 29, 2024. The flight will be operated by the airline Volaris and will have three weekly frequencies aboard an Airbus A320neo with 186 available seats.
“Increasing the international connectivity of Tijuana Airport is of paramount importance for Grupo Aeroportuario del Pacífico (GAP). Its geographical location provides us with important potential routes not only to the United States, but also to other countries. We already operate the route to Phoenix and now we are adding the route to Las Vegas; we will continue working to provide passengers with more and better options from this airport, which is the fifth most important in the country,” said GAP CEO Raul Revuelta Musalem.
With the inauguration of this new destination to Las Vegas, Tijuana International Airport will have a total of 38 routes: 36 domestic and 2 international, and is positioned as one of the best connected airports domestically in Mexico.
In addition to recently being awarded the prestigious Prix Versailles World Architecture Award for the design and functionality of the innovative Processor Building, Tijuana Airport’s strategic location on the border with the United States makes it unique in the world. Its growth has been exponential in recent years; this is reflected in the passenger traffic of this air terminal, which during 2015 used to operate 4.9 million passengers and during 2023 served 13.2 million passengers.
Due to the above and in order to improve the passenger experience and provide a first class airport service, Grupo Aeroportuario del Pacífico has invested more than 4,000 million pesos in this airport during the last five years, including the expansion of 40,000 m2 in the terminal’s surface area, which represents an 83% growth.
